It’s been a month since we traveled to Goa for a weekend trip and if you are following me on Instagram you must have seen some snippets of my travel. It was such a fun and relaxing trip that left me longing for more. I have been to Goa once before that was all touristy, but this time it was more about feeling the Goan sun, sand, and sea calmly without the hush of seeing popular tourist places or beaches. Contrary to our visit to North Goa last time, we decided to stay and explore South Goa instead. South Goa is altogether a different experience that from North Goa. Here you won’t find the mad tourist rush or yelling local vendors, but Old Goan architecture and beautiful clean beaches will definitely take your breath away.
We took an early morning flight from Chandigarh and reached Goa around 2:30 in the afternoon and from there we left for The Lalit golf and Spa Resort that’s almost one and a half hour drive from Dabolim airport. We reached our hotel at around 4 pm and were swiftly checked into our already booked room.
Now talking about the trip, its main attraction was the property, we stayed in.The Lalit golf and spa resort, built in around 100 acres and connected to a clean beautiful Raj Baga beach is a delight to stay. Although the rooms are not modern looking, but the whole Portuguese inspired setup will make your stay memorable enough. What I cherished most was my early morning beach walks when Sun used to be calm and the beautiful quite beach gave enough me time to play with the sea waves without being watched.
On the first day of our trip, we decided to stay at our hotel and explore it a bit. After taking some rest I was desperate enough to go and check the adjoining beach which I never expected would be so beautiful. Away from the city rush and going through the lush green golf gardens of the resort made it more beautiful. The day ended with a lovely Dinner at the Canacona restaurant in the hotel itself with some local Goan music.
Day two started with a lazy morning breakfast and as it was Holi that day and there was a little rain party going on at the beach we decided to have some fun there and planned to go out in the evening. After having lunch at the hotel itself, we took some rest and went to the nearby Palolem beach driving a rented scooter. The weather was fantastic and so was Palolem, We explored the local market there and had our dinner at a Buddhist cafe named Zest. Do visit it if you are a vegetarian and love candle light settings, the ambiance is quite great with a nice menu that includes Gluten free choices as well.
On day three we planned to explore the adjoining cities like Madgaon, Vasco and few temples that our taxi driver suggested. We totally relied upon him and asked to show us the old Goan architecture and historical temples. We left around 11 am and went to the Shanta Durga temple and then to Madgaon and after having lunch at Cola beach we went to Cabo De Rama fort on our way back to our Hotel. It’s a very old fort and precaution is needed while going through its mangled landscape, but the view you get to see from there is breathtaking.
On the fourth day, after having breakfast at the hotel we left back for Chandigarh promising ourselves to visit Goa soon again. I was never a Sun, Sand or Sea type of girl, but this trip made me fell in love with it. We are happy that we chose South Goa this time, as it was everything we craved for a holiday.
CALM, CLEAN and BEAUTIFUL
