Makeup is not a mask, Makeup is art. We may have tons of pretty things in our makeup stash but unless we know how to use them properly they are like boxes filled with colors. Either they will be kept on shelf and waiting expiry or if used they may end up looking disaster.
We all know how to apply basic things like Lipsticks , our Kajal or an Eyeliner without any hassle. We know our favorites and we hardly ever go wrong with their application, but when we talk about the extensive makeup techniques or products even experts fail sometimes. A right shade of foundation or concealer is the trickiest thing to choose- a shade Lighter or Darker, Matte or Cream, With or Without Spf, there are lots of things that puzzle us, and when it comes to concealers, again choices are endless and to add to our chaos we have Correctors.
Lot of us get confused between use of Concealers and Correctors and the difference between both.
What is a Concealer?
Concealer is used to hide any skin imperfections and matched to our skin tone while buying. It generally comes in shade similar to our foundation and base makeup. It is applied on the area that need little coverage on day to day basis. It is mostly liquid and cream based formula. Concealers are opaque as compared to our foundation.
What is a Corrector ?
Corrector unlike Concealer doesn’t match our skin tone and come in different shades. These are used to correct or camouflage different skin issues that need more coverage that concealer alone can’t provide. These are generally used to treat discoloration of the skin and work best when applied under sheer Concealer. They easily hide pimple scars, acne, freckles and dark under eye areas.
How to use Concealer?
Concealer is generally used a shade lighter than your skin tone and is applied on the concerned areas by dabbing it gently with your fingers or the Concealer brush. It can be used with or without foundation. The days when it’s too hot to use foundation, I just use my Concealer and finish it off with some pressed powder.
How to use a Color Corrector ?
Correctors come in different shades for different skin concerns. Deeper shades work for darker skin and pastels work wonderfully on fair or light skin. If your under eye area is dark then orange, yellow or peach corrector( according to your complexion) will neutralize it and if you have redness on your skin due to pimples or acne a green corrector will do the trick. If you have yellow or pale skin a lavender or pink corrector will brighten up your face.
After moisturizing and priming up your face, use a little amount of your Color Corrector on the affected area and dab it along with a sheer Concealer . Start by using a little amount of product to avoid any chaos if you are a beginner and you can always apply more if required. After concealing your affected areas you can use your regular foundation and can get a flawless looking face.
