Fashion Blogging as profession is quite tempting and its often mistaken as a profession where you get free clothes, free travel, free gifts and goodies everyday and so many of us start our blogs with a misconception that by just creating a website and putting few pictures on our social media will do the job. But reality is totally different from what it may seem to all of us. Every job requires hard work and so does blogging. I am not asking you to not start a blog or not consider it as a profession but I would like to mention few things that you need to consider before you start a fashion blog.

Blogging is a full-time job : Although you can pursue it part-time but if you really want to be a big name in this field you need full dedication and time and yes you need to work on weekends too.

It takes time and patience to build a successful Blog : Like every other business it takes some time to run a successful blog. You definitely need to work hard and be innovative with your ideas. It may take you few months to few years to build a consistent number of followers and truth to be told blogging largely depends on number of followers you have.

It definitely needs investment : You will need to invest in a good website and of course in a good wardrobe until unless your clothes are sponsored.

Content is key : As they say there is no shortcut to success, there are number of companies and apps that can help you build your following initially but in the end your work and content is what really matters.

There are no such things like freebies : It is your hard work that pays you and until unless you are good enough nobody is going to send you anything for free and when they say freebies it means they are asking for promotion.

Never ever work for free : There are so many brands and PR agencies that may ask you to work free for them or at a price that may seem peanuts in front of effort you put in. Know your worth and never hesitate to ask what you deserve.

It’s fun when you pursue your passion as profession but that doesn’t mean that there would be less competition and stress. Good thing is if you enjoy doing what you do, half the battle is won.
